Cellar Notes with Marc
G’day Tigers and Tigettes! Welcome one and all to my swansong Pillitteri Cellar Notes <insert sounding trumpets here>. In case you missed the memo, I’m just about to wind up my time here as Winemaster. A change is a good as a holiday, and boy do I need a hol.
But enough about me, let’s get back the world of wine, so much more exciting! Anyway, things here have been going off like a frog in a sock, bottling like it’s going out of fashion. Need those tanks and need them soon. Some of the little beauties I managed to snare before me blazing into the sunset include not only <insert drumroll here> the 07 Ressies of Merlot, Cab Franc and my fav (but don’t tell the other 2) Cab Sauv. No in case you missed the other memo, I am happy to report that these Ressie wines will now be labelled under the new and extremely flashy “Exclamation Series”. Pretty sexy brand, and with the raised design, trust me when I say that you can’t help but run your fingers over the label. Mmmmm indeed! Also wangled under cork my 07 Family Ressies line including the Merlot, Cab Franc, Cab Sauv and wait for it…Triv! That’s solid gold right there folks, solid gold! It would make Russell “the Cashman” Oliver jealous.
The never-done-by-us-before Pinot Blanc Icewine was also traptified for you punters once a souped up box is sorted. But…something which you will all be raving about will be the release, or impending release, of some newer vintage favs, including the 09 Gewurztraminer (done in a more fleshy bold style than my 08), 09 Sauvignon Blanc (very new world in style, so refreshing) and 09 Merlot Bianco. Don’t be shy my fine feathered friends, swing by for a captains when you can.
What else, well yesterday had the privilege to do a tasting of some of my badboys with Carolyn Evans-Hammond (Wine Tidings) and Beppi Crosariol (Globe and Mail). Had a blast, with most of the tasting spent by us swinging like Foucault's pendulum between laughter and tears. Classic!
Ok so that’s really about it, it’s been swell to be sure. But fear not kiddies, I will still and forever more be jetting round the Niagara wine world and will keep you all posted on my current thoughts, drinks, asravings, and vents through my Facebook and Twitter accounts, do yourself a favour and look up the tooeasytiger. Cheers all, get a drink up ya for me and keep on truckin’.
Too easy, marc
