Sydney, Australia- Pillitteri Estates Winery has achieved what no other Canadian Wine has to date, winning a Best in Show Trophy at the Six Nations Wine Challenge. The Trophy has been awarded to the Reserve Riesling Icewine from the stellar 2013 vintage. Unlike other wine competitions, the Six Nations is a curated competition, whereby each nation enters as a team selected by wine experts from their home regions. The trophy win along with other strong performers from the rest of the Canadian field, gave Canada the overall selection for “Best Dessert Wine Producing Nation”.

National wine judge and noted wine writer Christopher Waters curated the Canadian collection of wines and selected Pillitteri Estates winery’s Riesling Icewine as one of the 100 Canadian wines to be entered into the competition. Charlie Pillitteri was in Sydney, Australia yesterday evening to accept the trophy and commented. “Being selected as the best dessert wine out of all the great Canadian Icewines is a great honour and to receiving the trophy win for best in the world is absolutely amazing. It shows the world that Canada is serious about making premium wine. I’m sure it shocked a few other countries around the world and put them on notice. Canadian wine is here and it is fabulous.”
